Reistration Fee Bug Fix Problem

Options
The documentation for version 7.1 states the following under maintenance changes -

Bug 504302 - We resolved an issue that caused events to include registration fees on guest records in The Raiser's Edge when you processed transactions from Blackbaud NetCommunity.

The problem is that we have been taking registrations for a large event later this month since June, and I built my Crystal reports around the way that the transactions were processed (so to pick up all gifts, whether on guest or constituent records) - the report knew if they were an active particpant as the participant record had a registration fee attached.

Each registration now takes a lot of manual processing as registration fees are only added to the record of the person booking the ticket. So the gift amount and the amount associated in registration fees don't add up.

e.g. Person A buys 3 £25 tickets. A gift of £75 is added to their constituent record, but only one £25 ticket is linked to this gift - the other £50 isn't linked to anything. So I have go in and manually assign that £50 to make sure it is all accounted for in my reports.

  • WHAt?  I hope they only meant this was happening when it was a TABLE or TEAM purchase.

We have DECADES of event registrations being applied to the actual participant.

To change this now is madness!

I am attending a webinar today - hopefully some clarification will happen with it
  • I actually like this way better as this is the way we apply payments through non-netcommunity batches (checks, cash, credit cards).  The payer gets the money on their record (goth gifts and event), the guests do not.  We also never use the event for tracking money, we only use gifts for tracking money.  Found events to be very unreliable for tracking money, just participants & guests.
  • They did not cover this in the webinar - and I forgot to ask.

We depend HEAVILY on our event fees/gifts in the event to determine if we made money, broke even, or lost money.

I'll see if I can't find time to research this.

FYI in the webinar yesterday they said each BBNC user would get 72 hours notice BEFORE your installation of NC would be upgraded.
