ADA Compliance and NetCommunity

Does anyone have any information on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design and NetCommunity Emails and Pages? These standards state that all electronic and information technology must be accessible to people with disabilities.

Thank you,

Mike

    Thank you,

    Hi Mike,

There are many resources online for the standards as well as services for testing your website for ADA compliance. Here's my go to resource for the standards, straight from the ADA website: https://www.ada.gov/websites2_prnt.pdf. If you're just getting started with ADA compliance & want to see how your current site rates, this website will test your site and is super user-friendly with results & how to correct them: http://wave.webaim.org/. Campaign monitor has a good article regarding emails here: https://www.campaignmonitor.com/resources/guides/accessibility/ & Litmus' infographic is an oldie but goodie: https://litmus.com/blog/accessibility-email-design-infograph.

The trick to all this is making your designer/programmer aware of & utilizes these standards AND once the site is live, that your team is prepared to follow these guidelines as well when they are creating/updating content/emails. We know headers are important for SEO, but they're also a requirement for ADA compliance for example.

I'd love to see if anyone else has other resources they use for ADA compliance testing, standards, etc. I'm always on the hunt for resources.
