Mobile Donation part not rendering correctly

Options
Our donation part on our general donation page is too wide and extends off the page slightly when looking at it on a mobile phone. We had this page designed 5 years ago and really needs to be redesigned.

I've asked BB to change the width on the mobile layout to make it at least fit in the smallest iphone. They said they changed it,I looked at it and it still didn't fit. I told them it didn't fit and then they basically said "oh, sorry I guess not. We will fix it, but charge you $150 an hour for several hours of work.":(

I am hoping someone can help me fix this small, but big problem! I can tinker around and change CSS, etc., I just need someone to help me find exactly where it is.

  • Also, if you have any thoughts to fixing the 'Donation' button to where it will show a "loading" status again, that would be great!
  • I'm sorry I can't help you with this but I have a question for you. Do you use BBNC? Did you upgrade to BBNC 7? I'm looking into making our donation forms mobile friendly.

    Thanks,

    Brinda
  • Hey Brinda,

We are hosted by BB, so I'm sure we have 7. Our site though was designed several years ago. It has a 'mobile' template with it, but is not 'responsive' to where it automatically resizes to any device like you may be talking about. That is what they have done for the new donation parts.

    Thanks!
  • Ok. Then we are in the same boat then. Blackbaud has quoted me $3500 work order for making our donation forms mobile friendly [apparently, even though BBNC 7 offers that BB need to create a template for us first]

    Thanks,

    Brinda
  • A simple donation form like yours should take no longer than 2-3 hours total to make mobile responsive across devices. And the js piece that causes the donate button to say 'processing' until completion is about 15 minutes to implement.

Here are some mobile responsive examples of our work:

    https://give.baylorhealth.com/ways-to-give/donate

    https://www.givetochildrens.org/donate

    https://giveto.seattlechildrens.org/changealife

    https://www.seriousfunmesstival.com/donate

    https://www.coafkids.org/donate

For more overall site mobile responsiveness, like menus and other functional forms (events, login, etc), it takes a bit longer. Example is your login on https://newhorizonsinc.thankyou4caring.org/login, which would take about 30-60 minutes. But the donation form URL you referenced is a simple task.

Feel free to email me at julie@sjconsulting.us if you'd like to discuss.

    Thank you!

Thanks Julie. Just sent you an email.

    Hey Joshua,

Thank you for the response! I just tried this and it still looks the same. Wonder where I went wrong. I've cleared the cache on Chrome on my phone.

  • Hey Hannah, Could you take a screenshot to show where it looks off?
  • Hannah,

It looks like you have some good help here from both Joshua & Julie. Julie's samples are great & you shouldn't need more than a few hours to acheive that look. I did want to pop in to say that since your current site isn't responsive, you may actually need a bit more time invested (to create a responsive template as BB suggested) to get a truely mobile responsive form. I'll bet Julie & her team can help with that as well if you need it.

I'd love to see the final solution and hear whether you needed that responsive template or not) when it's complete if you don't mind sharing. Cheers!

Just a follow up on this! We did hire Julie to redo our donation and event page...and it's awesome! She did an outstanding job and had our site ready in just a few days (even when running into several issues from our stylesheet.) I highly recommend her if you need some help with your donation page. Thank you, Julie!
