California Assembly Bill 488 is a recently enacted legislation that regulates online charitable fundraising in the state of California. The law prohibits charitable fundraising platforms, like YourCause® CSRconnect®, from assisting organizations not in “good standing” in California with making charitable solicitations to and receiving funds from California residents. This affects donations from California residents to organizations that appear on one or more California revocation lists.



YourCause, our system provider for {Community Name} has made updates to its CSRconnect and NPOconnect products to meet the requirements of the bill, including identifying California residents more accurately, adding a “state restriction” flag for restricted organizations, and adding various required disclosures throughout the site.



Nonprofits can submit documentation to be reviewed by the State of California to be removed from this list. When they follow this process, CSRconnect will update their status and you may continue to send donations through {Community Name}.
