What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "The day I married the love of my life."What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I am a karaoke queen." What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Work hard and really get to know your organization. Be passionate."What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "Seeing others that love what they do and being able to talk about it."

Tell us about your family (fur babies count!): "My husband and I blended our family eight years ago. Five grown kids, two dogs and two cats. We live a country quiet life and enjoy camping and sitting around a fire." Where do you live? "Virginia Beach, Virginia." What do you like to do for fun? "Camping, wine tasting, painting and crafts and gardening." What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "My work with Operation Smile."

Tell us about your organization: "Operation Smile has provided hundreds of thousands of safe surgeries for those born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities. With more than three decades of expertise, Operation Smile creates solutions that deliver free surgery to people where it’s needed most. As one of the largest medical volunteer-based nonprofits, Operation Smile has mobilized thousands of medical volunteers from a wide range of medical specialties from more than 80 countries. Operation Smile engages public-private partnerships to advance health care delivery, train local medical professionals to provide surgical care for patients in their communities, donate crucial medical equipment and supplies, and increase access to surgical care so that everyone living with cleft is treated." What’s a typical day like for you? "Work, dogs, dinner, and then relax outside with a glass of wine and my husband." What’s the best part of your job? "Everything!!!!"


Finally, if you could be a sandwich, what kind of sandwich would you be? "BLT - there is a little good, bad, and ugly in all of us. Be the bacon!"
