Blackbaud Releases Tap to Pay on iPhone to Blackbaud Merchant Services™ Customers

Blackbaud Merchant Services customers processing in U.S. dollars can now use Tap to Pay on iPhone for a quick, secure, and convenient way to take payments or donations.

Blackbaud just announced the rollout of Tap to Pay on iPhone for Blackbaud Merchant Services customers processing in U.S. dollars and using the most recent version of the Blackbaud MobilePay Terminal application from the App Store with an iPhone Xs or later. Tap to Pay on iPhone allows organizations to accept in-person, contactless payments using the MobilePay Terminal and just an iPhone. This means no additional hardware, like card readers or terminals, is needed.

Supporters can pay using their contactless debit and credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other digital wallets by simply tapping their device on the iPhone collecting payments or donations.

Nice! Will it add the fee on the screen after you type in the payment amount? Like if we type in $300 (what the parent actually owe's), it will change it to $309.42? Or does the $300 include the charge so we are getting less?

Hi @Nikki Hamby!

The fee amount will not be added to the screen but rather is included with the other Blackbaud payment processing fees. So, your organization will still receive the net amount after fees like other MobilePay Terminal transactions.

The additional fee specific to Tap to Pay will be visible in the Blackbaud Merchant Services Web Portal as an Application Fee on the transaction record.

Does it include receiving payments from Venmo?

Hi @Lynda Nielsen!

Tap to Pay on iPhone accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover contactless cards, and NFC-based mobile wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay). As Venmo wallet payments are QR code based, it is not an accepted payment method with Blackbaud's MobilePay Terminal application.
