The Scleroderma Foundation is seeking an Online Communications Specialist. He/she is responsible for the Scleroderma Foundation’s online communications with the goal of increasing the Foundation’s external visibility. S S/he oversees the daily administration of websites, manages content creation and implementation across all digital channels including websites, social media channels, email, advertising channels such as Google AdWords and Facebook ads, etc. S/he works with the department heads to plan and implement the organization’s strategy across all digital and social media channels. The Online Communications Specialist ensures that all communications products adhere to the Foundation’s messaging, tone and style as well as accurately represent the work and results of the organization. Key ResponsibilitiesAssume overall responsibility for review and timely updating of website design and information; maintain user-friendly and accessible formats.Serve as the point person for all online content, including stories, videos, news, advocacy alerts or other content that help position the organization to meet its online goals.Collect, write, edit, and facilitate creation of content for website, microsites, social media sites and more.Manage relationships with all online vendors, including Convio/Blackbaud.Monitor trends, results, and analytics to ensure website is meeting communications goals.Manage all social and emerging media activities include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Google+ and more. Develop and maintain content for all of these in line with larger communications strategy.As needed, train staff/chapters and other end-users on electronic media and online fundraising, web content, and event platforms.Proactively design and manage web initiatives such as webinars, blogs, social networking, ensuring Foundation’s presence on a range of social media sites.Monitor online conversations and breaking news related to scleroderma.Quickly write pieces in response to breaking news (i.e., news stories for site, comments on blogs, etc.) and post them on the website and other channels.Oversee Google AdWords account and other site traffic opportunities to drive visitors to scleroderma initiatives and increase housefile.Produce new media materials including photo slideshows and videos.Stay abreast of current online trends and changing landscape for online communications through conferences, memberships and online forums.Manage the Foundation’s email marketing.In collaboration with internal teams set priorities and strategy for the Foundation’s online communications.Design and implement innovative campaigns across multiple online channels to increase online visibility.Supervise one full-time communications program associate.

Knowledge of Convio/Blackbaud CMS or Similar Platforms Required

 

  • Experience planning, building and configuring sites in Convio CMS and Luminate Online, including wrapper, content type and template development, including email, donation, advocacy, and survey and Team Raiser modules
  • Ability to conditionalize and customize content (for example, using Convio’s s-tag language)
  • Familiarity with Convio’s APIs
  • Developing specifications for website forms, website testing and issue tracking.
  • Produce, test and implement online campaigns and programs including websites, emails, forms, and custom applications in the Luminate and TeamRaiser product environment.
  • Improved conversion rates (via improved functionality/user experience).
  • Improved average gift per supporter through improved personal page and supporter tools (mobile app), functionality and social media integration etc.
  • Collect data and report on results of programs. Implement enhancements based on data insights.
  • Interact with stakeholders to help troubleshoot and resolve CRM and Luminate Online problems or issues
  • Diagnose and resolve questions or problems in the areas of system configurations/setup, product functionality, and bugs/enhancements.
  • Track and document inbound support requests and ensure proper notation of problems or issues
  • Stay abreast of current technology in products, design changes, and new products offered
  • Understand website configuration and business policies in order to provide timely and accurate assistance for end users and administrators.

 Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Business.
  • One to two years related experience.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills with a focus on writing for the web and a familiarity with writing press releases and marketing copy.
  • Experience with Convio web management software strongly recommended.
  • Previous experience in website design and development.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and internet CMS and publishing software. 
  • Understanding of graphic design concepts as they apply to the Internet; 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and ImageReady; 
  • Experience with online marketing, outreach and fund-raising for nonprofits is preferred. 
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and follow-through with minimal supervision, working independently to accomplish goals. 
  • Must be proactive, detail-oriented and organized and able to work in fast-paced environment.
