finding the time

Options

Hi, Elizabeth, what tips do you have to encourage co-workers to take the time in their schedule for training? Always a low priority.

That said - how to find the one training BB University that one is looking for without enrolling in a curriculum of 10. I find the site mind-boggling when I look at my own training. Spent over 10 minutes yesterday trying to unenroll from a course as the directions do not seem up to date. :)

Hi @JoAnn Strommen I struggle with this too! I think this thread on a similar but different question asked by @Rachel Cavalier may be helpful.

Here are a few more thoughts:

    • Emphasize how the training will make their jobs easier or more effective. Whether it’s learning new tools, improving fundraising strategies, or gaining new skills, make it clear how the training directly aligns with their professional goals and the organization’s mission.
    • Have the person with the most authority set a hard deadline
    • Make it easy - sit down with them and help them sign up for the first few classes if they haven't done so yet. Once that hurdle is over that should help it feel less daunting.
    • Remind them that the organization has invested in their professional development, and this is a chance for them to grow in their role and improve overall performance.

I hope this helps and thanks for asking as it really can be a struggle!
