Tips for getting started in Blackbaud University

Options

Hi Elizabeth - wondering if you have any suggestions or tips on getting one started with their learning journey in Blackbaud University?

There is a dizzying array of courses available… any suggestions on getting started. For example - do recommend that most people narrow their focus by selecting the “Course Catalogues by Product” on the ‘Welcome to BlackbaudU Campus’ homepage and then follow a learning track listed in the “Browse Learning Paths” options?

Thanks for your time.

Hi @Robert Hamanishi! You bet I do! And I think your instincts are spot on. :)

So I cheated and saw that you are in development so I will assume you are a Raiser's Edge user. I think this advice will work for any of Blackbaud's products. . .

I do recommend starting with the product catalog, then view the courses for your product (and later for organizational best practices), then explore now to browse learning paths, then start with the fundamental level, some classes have prerequisites so the order can matter. I also like to look at the calendar and see where I can fit the classes in my schedule. I like to map it out before committing. Now that classes are online they happen more frequently and you can choose your instructors as well. It is very easy to reschedule if something comes up. Best not to wait until the last minute on changes though. Full classes can be fun and sometimes you get one that feels like a private class and those can also be very beneficial.

If that view really doesn't work for you @Julianne Holl shared this link yesterday to “curriculum page (great for a holistic view)” in another thread.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

  • Great @Elizabeth Johnson - thanks for the advice, suggestions & links! Look forward to enrolling in some of the available courses. Happy Spring!
