Raiser's Edge Data Stale in ResearchPoint

Options

We screened individuals with Fundraising Essential in 2013-15, and the data from Raiser's Edge including giving, addresses, etc. is still from that time. We stopped using ResearchPoint in 2017, but we want to be able to use it with current giving and address information. Can someone please advise on how I can update the giving and address data in ResearchPoint with Raiser’s Edge NXT data?

@Debbie Atkinson - Good morning to you. I am an analytics consultant here at Blackbaud working with ResearchPoint (RP) clients. If you click on the blue question mark in the upper right corner and select the Knowledgebase, you can then search for your answer. I did that and I got the following response: “To update all the records in ResearchPoint via integration with Raiser's Edge, you will need to create a Research List of records to be synced. First, go to the Prospects page and select View all Lists. Open the appropriate research list or create a new one if needed. Ensure that the records are linked with The Raiser's Edge by checking the RE7 linked column in the grid. If not linked, you can link them by selecting the drop-down icon and clicking Link with RE7. Once all the desired records are linked, click Sync list with Raiser's Edge in the navigation bar. It is recommended to sync around 2,000 records at a time to avoid performance impacts on both systems. If you have more than 2,000 records, you may need to split your Research List into smaller sublists.”. This helped me, because it quickly used AI to generate a helpful answer.

Also, you could simply create a query of the records you want to update in RP. Here is the Knowledgebase Solution on this: How to add a query from Raiser's Edge to screen in ResearchPoint via this link:

This not only will update existing records in RP from RE such as contact information and summarized giving data, but it will import any new records at the same time (up to 2K records at a time). For instance, if you want to import all your donors over a certain amount in the past year, 2 years, etc. first to keep to the limit of 2K records, query on it in RE and then via integration between RP and RE, you can import that query into RP and update them into a research list. This Knowledgebase Solution provides nice details on step-by-step instructions.

Note that if you do not have integration set up, then that is a different Knowledgebase Solution and AI search. Here is the Knowledgebase Solution: How to integrate ResearchPoint with Raiser's Edge via this link:

I hope this is helpful. Our Blackbaud Analytics support team can help with any further quesitons on this via this link:

    Best wishes to you Debbie!

  • @Carol Belair Thank you Carol. I'll try the solution later today or on Monday.

  • @Carol Belair This was always concerning to me! We have all of our records synced to RE. When we make changes in RE, do they automatically update in RP? If your records are synced, this shouldnt have to be a manual process as you would be spending so much time maintain two databases! If Im in a record in NXT and hit the button to go to RP, is there a way to update RP with my current info in NXT? There has to be an easier way to get all your RE data updated in RP since we have over 130K records! Doing 2000 at a time can take a long time.

@Patti Posey - Thank you for your question. The only way you can update data in both RP and RE (it is a two-way integration) is to sync up records between RP and RE is in RP. It is not automatic. You can do batches of records via research lists in RP. Here is a Knowledgebase Solution on how to do this with links to other helpful Knowledgebase Solutions: How do I update Ratings after the Raiser's Edge & Researchpoint integration updates after RP 5.28 Release? -

I hope tha this is helpful. There is a way to create research lists larger than 2,000 records, but you will need to add the RE last sync date into your research list criteria and then Refresh the list so it removes all successfully synced records and then you continue syncing the records. Our Blackbaud Analytics support team is also helpful should you have questions on doing this, and clicking on the blue question mark in the upper right corner of RP takes you to the support Chat link.

  • @Carol Belair Thanks Carol. BB Support Rep sent me a solution that updated a majority of the stale records in ResearchPoint via a list. I created the list based on a query of all the records in RP then I synced with RE. My next step is exporting the RP records that were not synced and use the Lookup ID to generate a RE query then add the list from RE. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
