Importing Org Addresses

I have been trying for 2 days to import a list of organizations. I have followed the directions online to the letter and the addresses will not show up. Everything else is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm sure it's obvious, but I can't see what I'm doing wrong.

    Your import file looks fine to me.

    ImportID and AddrImpID is not required, and when not specified, will be assigned by system. In case you don't need these 2 fields to be specified and thought you need it. Since they need to be unique, if you are going to specify them, you have to make sure they are unique on all rows AND that it doesn't exists in RE already. That's why I generally do not specify these 2 field.

    If records are not created, then you should have an error, so take a look at the error report on why.

    Possible why:

    • Business is not an address type your RE has in the Address Type table
    • Business and/or FAX is not a phone type in your RE Phone Type table
    • THPA02042501 exists on another constituent as Import ID
    • A234 exists on another address record as Address Import ID

    @Beth Conatser since you said they “will not show up” rather than that you're getting an error during the import, maybe the import was successful but they're being hidden? I think there are a couple of tick boxes/filters on the address screen (in database view anyway) for hiding certain types of addresses

    @Beth Conatser You have two phone numbers but no PhoneImportIDs. I would add IDs for the phone numbers. I would also try to add the other phone number as a separate import if things get to wonky.

    But your import control report should be telling you what's wrong…

    @Dariel Dixon I agree with Alex that I would not add IDs for the phones unless they already exist on the record and you're trying to update them.

    The fax number is blank, could that be causing an issue? I assume it's trying to insert a record with a type but no number - it's been a while since I used RE, can't remember whether number was a required field.
