great addition - often we were exchanging queries with paths via email (Query Folder>Query Name)

@Crystal Bruce So easy! This is especially helpful for when I set up “Clean Up” queries for clients so that they can review common errors such as a comma instead of a period in email addresses. Certainly easier than navigating and searching. A real time saver.

The query link might be my favorite addition! We use Planner Tasks to track our weekly, monthly, and annual data audits, and being able to attach the query link directly to the task has significantly reduced the time spent searching for queries. Until we have the capacity to fully automate our data audits, this functionality is making a big impact on streamlining routine work and improving efficiency.

    @Crystal Bruce
I recently told my CRM team about this and the business use case is “scheduling”.

Finance handle calculating non-deductible for an event, so the issue is they sometime don't remember which event doesn't have non-deductible yet.

With sharable link, we can setup a query that will show which event still need non-deductible calcuation in the coming months. Using the sharable link, the finance person can have a recurring meeting setup with the query link in there. Easily allow them to be notified recurringly and easily go to the query to get latest results.

  • @Crystal Bruce I love the copy link feature.? I use it all the time in lists and am so pleased to see it's now a feature of query as well. It works really well for colleagues who don't use NXT that much, rather than tell them where you saved the query, you just send them the link, and now they feel confident they are using the right query.

  • @Crystal Bruce Sharing a query with copy link is SO GOOD. No more either explaining in detail where the query that my colleague needs is or sending a screenshot with a bunch of red arrows drawn all over it :D

  • @Crystal Bruce This makes sharing a query easier. Bam! and they have it. No more providing locations like the query folder and query name and the possibilities of someone using the wrong query.

  • @Crystal Bruce Very easy to share. Wish the name of the query would show in the link.

  • @Crystal Bruce Yes, it was easy to paste the link into an email to multiple colleagues to keep us all on the same page. After having done an export, I was looking for more of a verification/ visual cue that the link had copied, or for the confirmation to stay instead of coming up and quickly going away. I could see myself getting distracted in between copying the link, and getting to a place to paste it. But that's not a problem for blackbaud to solve :)

@Crystal Bruce I've shared queries in the past with the link. I'm not sure how it works if the query is set to not allow other users to run or modify. I think when you get the link, a pop-up telling the user sharing the link that they may have to uncheck the run box for the link to work correctly.

  • @Crystal Bruce Very easy. I was on a Teams meeting, copied and posted the link on the chat and voila! Saved time for both of us.

  • @Crystal Bruce I don't do this very often so just tested it and would like the link to include the name of the query

  • @Crystal Bruce I tested this out and it was fairly fast and easy. I don't do this often, so I'm not sure how useful it would be. The colleague I sent it to was already logged in. I'd be curious to see how it would work/how fast it would be if the person weren't already logged in.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Most of my colleagues don't want or need to know “how the sausage is made”, they just want to see the results. But it is interesting to be able to share the link to the query itself - and let them be amazed by my extraordinary powers of query writing :)

  • @Crystal Bruce I've started sharing Queries all the time since they came to web view. It saves SO much time when looking at prospects or trying to find an easy way to keep track of Opportunities. Everyone can see the same thing and we can click right on the constituents' info if we need to instead of working from static spreadsheets.

  • @Crystal Bruce Easily shareable! Our main issue is that the criteria and output we require often leads to duplicate entries. As with the new export function, the sharing will be very useful once we can control a little more about how the query is exported to remove duplicates

  • @Crystal Bruce
Yes, the share links are easy to use. They could come in handy when needing to share a specific group of records with other staff who aren't database view savvy.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Yes - another great feature as it was easy to share and saves colleagues from logging into DB view and searching for the correct query.

  • @Crystal Bruce much easier to share query as the “look” and format in webview query is more user friendly

  • @Crystal Bruce I do really like this option because I can send people links to queries that are in my “standard queries” category and they can run them without me.

@Crystal Bruce, as many others have already said, the nice thing is that sharing allows direct access to the query without the need to tell them how to navigate to it. But as others have also said, most of our users don't need access to the query itself, just the information it finds.

The one area where this will be most helpful is data cleanup; we can share the query with gift entry staff in both of our locations and they can each tackle the records they're responsible for.

  • @Crystal Bruce, I love being able to share a query this way. We have so many queries that are slightly different in purpose. This helps us navigate to make sure we are talking about the correct one. This also allows me to write a query for someone and let them run it on their own. Often I need to sit with them and show them the process to run a query. This makes the training process much easier.

  • @Crystal Bruce
Best function I've seen so far. Very easy.

  • @Crystal Bruce We use MS Teams, and it is wonderful to be able to provide the link when another member needs access to a specific query.

  • @Crystal Bruce Honestly, it confused them at first, but the click-through abilities really sold it.

  • @Crystal Bruce Didn't realize this was possible - very nice feature!

  • @Crystal Bruce
I was able to quickly share a query through teams so that everyone could discuss the data together.

  • @Crystal Bruce This aspect is fantastic! No more having to Slack teammates or type out how they can find the query I've written.

  • @Crystal Bruce
I sometimes need to share queries (usually just the results however) so it's a nice option instead of just telling them where to navigate to on the database.

  • @Crystal Bruce this has been great to utilize through MS teams! No more extra work to figure what and where the query is. The direct link is super helpful!
