Checkout embedded error

Options

Hello

I am updating my donation forms with the new merchant account and have tried the checkout embedded. However, the embedded one breaks the whole configuration, making it look weird.

Has anyone else faced a similar situation?

  • @Leo Rezende we decided to just go with modal, since embedded won't be an option for future forms, as far as I can tell. I finally just got the modal checkout on all 621 (!!!) forms yesterday. Since I never know which old form our mail house is going to dig up to copy, I decided to just add to all of them.

I haven't yet added the Merchant account to the Campaigns, that will be today. It's been quite a process.

  • @Leo Rezende We had similar issues in that it was throwing off our Page Wrapper. We had to work with a developer at our cost to fix it and then implement the change on all our similar wrappers. It has been a huge process that we are still working through.

  • Thank you, Meghan and Amy; this is really helpful. We are going with the modal; I'm experiencing issues with a script conflict with the modal checkout. I failed trying to fix it so we also will need a developer to look at the wrappers.

    Thanks for your inputs!

  • @Amy Barker
Do you have any more information about the embedded checkout not being an option in the future? I haven't seen that but it would be good to know if it was true before we spend a lot of time on the embedded checkout.

  • @Leo Rezende We also had some old J Query in our wrappers that was throwing it off so we had to remove that. Hopefully you can get it sorted out with a developer! If not, definitely reach out to Support.

  • @Matthew Smith I was just going off the info in the guide that said modal will be applied automatically moving forward. May have been a bad assumption on my part.

Also we just realized that night that a form on a small campaign that I had switched over is not displaying credit card information fields. So that's my project for today. Good times with a looming deadline!

    @Matthew Smith @Amy Barker
Just want to jump in to say that the embedded (inline) checkout will continue to be available. There is no plan to remove that feature.

  • @Meghan Christiansen Thanks a lot! Our developer helped get rid of the annoying spinning wheel. Still, embedded is not working and I'm not sure if it's worth trying. I saw a lot of nonprofits using the modal.

  • @Leo Rezende Oh interesting! We have multiple BBMS accounts we use for our all our Societies and some are working and some are giving us the spinning wheel. Do you by any chance know what was causing the spinning wheel?

We are using the embedded because it matches our forms better. The modal did work better, but we felt that the embedded would be more intuitive for our audience of donors.

  • @Meghan Christiansen, It was HTML coding on page wrappers. I can email you the instructions our developer sent and explain how it was solved.

So, are you guys going primarily with the modal checkout?

  • @Colleen Gutierrez Hi Colleen, thanks for clarifying it.

We—and other nonprofits—are experiencing difficulties getting the embedded checkout to work properly. I was wondering if Blackbaud could help identify what might be conflicting with the donation form elements. It would be really helpful to understand if there’s a common issue causing these challenges and if there’s a solution we can implement.

Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.

  • @Leo Rezende that would be amazing! I will send you a direct message.

Sorry I made a typo, we are going with the embedded as it matches the flow of our forms a bit better. We do like the modal more but we were worried our audience have an easier time with the embedded.

  • @Leo Rezende
We are implementing the checkout modal and are also getting the spinning wheel. Could you share those instructions on how to fix the HTML?

  • @Leo Rezende Hi Leo, I am also experiencing the same issue with the spinning wheel on the embedded checkout. Would you mind sharing the HTML resolution with me, also? I have a few tickets open with Blackbaud and am not getting too far.

    Thank you!

  • Hi @Kamber Coyne @Gwendolyn Chambers Sure, happy to helo. Can you DM your emails? I'll send over the instructions we received.

    Hi all -

We've added an entry to our FAQ that addresses the spinning wheel from our internal research and testing. The information is published as an FAQ item here:

    https://webfiles-sc1.blackbaud.com/files/support/helpfiles/lo/content/donation_management_pcofaq.html#Troubleshooting

A product resolution is being worked for the upcoming March release for this issue, but in the meantime, the steps outlined should also take care of the issue.

Please let me know if this does not work for anyone who may still need to address this issue, or if it does not coincide with your experience for how to resolve the issue.
    Thanks!
