New Grade Report Grade Entry: Timing for old grade entry screen phase out?

Options

Hi,

You currently see the ‘Grading’ and ‘New Grading’ tabs for Grade and Report writing in each class. What is the timing for phasing out ‘Grading’ (the old screens). My teachers are asking for that timing.

Thanks!

    Hi @Michael Moulton

We'll be removing the old view in July of this year. So, a little time to still use it, if needed. If your teachers have feedback on the newer experience, encourage them to fill out the survey on the new grade entry screen. We're monitoring the feedback and will be iterating on the feature in the coming weeks!

  • @Michael Moulton - anyone having issues with calculating grades in the NEW grading? Some of our teachers are. They hit calculate and a couple students will show that they can't be calculated. Shows an “M” next to their name. Works in the OLD grading just fine

  • @Jeanette DiStefano
This occurred in my school and it seemed to be because our grade translation was working with whole numbers and the decimals pushed the calculations outside of grade ranges. We solved that by rounding the grade with 0 decimal places but the solution may look different at your school.

  • @Ravendra Persaud Thanks for your response. After watching the video that Blackbaud put out of the New grade entry it does say to change the Grade Translation out to at least 5 decimals. We round up 2 decimals. I made the change in the Grade Translation and thought I had fixed the issue as one teacher calculated and it was fine. Another teacher tried to calculate and had one kid's grade show it couldn't be calculated. So frustrating and luckily it works fine when done in the Old grading. There's got to be a glitch with the New grading.

    Hi @Jeanette DiStefano -

If you're experiencing incorrect rounding, I suggest reaching out to our Support team. They can help identify what may be going on between the Grade Translation and the calculation.

I'll also note that to help isolate what the issue may be, you can impersonate the given teacher and choose to run the calculation just for one of the affected students. On the Review tab of the calculation wizard, the sample calculation will show you the breakdown of the affected student and any error that will prevent the student from correctly calculating. Between those two pieces of information, you should be able to see why the calculation isn't producing a result for the given student.

  • @Michael Morrissette I did reach out to support and still do not have an answer. Ive done exact'y what you said multiple times and relayed to the support rep which teachers, which students. Some of the responses Ive gotten have had nothing to do with the actual issue. Was told yesterday more people are looking into it????

    Hi @Jeanette DiStefano -

Thanks for that information! I took a quick look at the case and I've found the issue. I'll follow up with you in a separate email to relay the fix.
