Resolutions: New Ones & Progress on Old Ones

Options

Hello all, and happy almost 2025. I hope all of you have the best year of your lives, and that tons of good things come your way.

Do you have any resolutions for the new year? Mine is to learn how to cartwheel.

And how did you get on with your 2024 ones? I never did learn Python, but I did nail three variations on the splits, and I ran a full marathon (my first). So hey, happy.

Take care!

  • @Bobby Steurer Professionally, I'm still learning PowerAutomate (want to keep building those skills!!). Personally, I want to tackle homemade sourdough bread.

  • I don't even remember if I made a 2024 resolution!

I typically don't do new year resolutions as trying to do something for a whole year (and beyond) seems like a big undertaking for my brain, so I usually take a crack at something for Lent instead (7ish weeks with Sundays off is extremely manageable). I am considering being more adventurous about trying new cheeses though - so perhaps this could be my resolution!

  • @Rachel Cavalier Sounds gouda to me!

@Bobby Steurer - Personally - try to be more present; Professionally - learn more about developer processes and ‘agile thinking’.

@Bobby Steurer I am going to strive to cut back on late night snacking, get up to date on Prospect Insights, and try to tackle last year's resolutions. Last year, I wanted to delve more into workflows and try to make time to read each evening. :) So hard to keep up!

  • @Bobby Steurer I don't do resolutions but a word for the year. Last year's word was Soar. I found ways to soar throughout the year. This year my word is Renew and I will be semi retiring and renew felt right.

@Christine Robertson If I lived closer I'd want to help by being a taste tester!

    @Bobby Steurer
I don't necessarily do real “resolutions” but I do enjoy going through a goal setting process where I look at the following areas of my life and develop some goals and intentions. I then do quarterly check-ins with some friends to see how we are doing and modify/pivot as needed.

    Areas:
    Health (spiritual, mental, and physical)
    Professional/Work/Career
    Fun/Recreation/Social/Travel
    Relationships (friends, romantic partner(s), friends)
    House/home(s)
    Financial
    Creativity/Art/Music
Community and environment (local, regional, national, global)
    Charitable and volunteering

My professional goals this year include presenting at bbcon (again) and writing a Community blog post.

I'm also looking forward to trying out some of these budget grocery meal plans by one of my favorite bloggers:

  • @Carlene Johnson I'd share if you were closer!
