As Director of Finance, you will impact these goals by leading financial operations: accounting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and reporting as well as manage / mentor a talented staff.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead the senior executives in the creation of the annual College budget.
  • Implement Best Practices and processes which impact efficiency and maximize accounting system use.
  • Produce monthly financial statements and financial reports that comply with GAAP standards.
  • Manage accounting staff who enter AP/AR, monthly journal entries, etc.
  • Serve as management’s liaison to the external audit team during their preliminary / on-site field work.
  • Prepare IRS Form 990.
  • Support staff in payroll management.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis and provide expert financial perspective to College President.
  • Manage and monitor cash-flow.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the college’s performance.
  • Produce the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Provide financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • File quarterly and annual reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING (skills, culture-fit and mission-fit)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance (Master’s degree is a plus)
  • CPA or CMA designation OR on your way to obtaining either

  • Extensive experience with the following: GAAP based reporting, operational experience (implementing Best Practices and processes), tax prep, payroll, auditing, forecasting, budgets and financial analysis
  • A strong desire to continuously learn and grow in one's field---excited about the prospect of growing into a CFO role!
  • Experience managing people (small teams)
  • Knowledge of any accounting software system (we use Financial Edge, part of Blackbaud suite)
