Pledges with recurring monthly credit card gift in RENXT

Is there a way to decrease the balance on a pledge in RENXT each month when the donor makes the payment using a recurring credit card? The recurring credit card is not linked to the original pledge.

This comes up when orgs want to apply recurring gifts to pledges to pay down the balance. The issue is that RGs and pledges are different gift types with different reporting mechanisms and different ways to record the revenue. We will not support the ability to apply RG payments to pledges to pay down balances.

What we are doing, and doing soon, is creating an automated pledge workflow. We will be delivering pledge creation on our online donation form which will capture the card or debit information on creation. From there we will be able to automatically charge the account when the installments come due the same way we do it for recurring gifts today.

This should get to your end goal of automating the process.

Do you know when the new functionality will be available?

In the meantime, do you suggest , I adjust the pledge amount in using the database view?

Pledge amount can be adjusted in both db view and in web view. The new pledge functionality is slated to release in December.

Can you send me instructions on how to adjust a pledge in webview? The documentation about this was a little vague.

On the pledge gift page itself, there is now an “Edit” option on the Pledge schedule tile. When you select that the edit grid will open and you will be able to adjust the installments/amounts.

If you are trying to adjust the entire value of the pledge down then that is not something we would support, that workflow is done via write offs since pledges are committed money to give.

@Anthony Gallo ? You know this has been one of my questions all along: adjust gift function.

This is a case where gift adjustment like is present in db view is needed.

IMO write off is not the best option. We need ability to make a change to a pledge and/or gift due to change from donor, miss entry by staff, etc. Could be change in amount, change in fund or something else. And write-offs pull into reporting and display differently on constituent records but I'm not going to go there. LOL

I 100% agree. Once I can get all the add/edit functionality into the web view we will move to the adjustments workflows.

I just think this workflow is a bit of an edge case to handle since it is a hybrid of recurring giving and pledges. But for sure adjustments in web view would help this use case have a better path forward.

Quick question, if a pledge balance was adjusted in DB view, will it carryover to webv iew? I made an adjustment on a pledge yesterday and today if don't see it in web view, or is adjustment in DB view different than edit in web view?
