Importing Employment When the Organization has Multiple Addresses

Options

Hello! I am currently in the process of updating our database with the new Faculty and Staff for the University, and I have ran into a slight issue. There are roughly ~200 records that I need to update the employment on and I would like to do an import to make my life easier! The issue is, the University has multiple campuses, all of which are active on the University's record. Is there any way to specify which address to link to the individual?

@Catie Wools Is there any benefit to having this information in the database at all? I mean, are you ever going to mail something to an on-campus address? Especially for internal business addresses, I'm not sure if this worth the effort. In my organization, we use the main address for all employee records, as to not have a million addresses connected to the organization. We have other methods of addressing things for internal addresses.

  • @Dariel Dixon Hi! Sorry I just saw this now, we do have mailings that go to campus (we are a separate entity from the University), and we have this issue with other organizations as well that have multiple addresses (i.e., businesses with multiple campuses, or branches of a company). I just wasn't sure if there was an easy way to go about doing mass updates when we have this issue!

@Catie Wools I don't know if you can create a link to specific addresses via import, but you would definitely need the address and relationship import IDs for the import. You can create an import file using export to get those IDs, and try to import that data in since you don't look to be creating any new addresses.
