Overview

The default functionality of TeamRaiser is to display the tax-deductible amount of a donation as well as attach a PDF receipt for tax purposes as part of a donation transaction. This new feature allows clients to change this process to NOT display the tax-deductible information and not attach the PDF receipt when the constituent makes a donation to themselves. This feature was specifically implemented to support clients that want to defer this receipting until after the event has completed (or other later date) because they offer an incentive / rewards program for constituents that make self-donations. Because an incentive / rewards program has a monetary value, this value needs to be credited against donations, fees, etc. in order to give the participant an accurate value of what they can claim as a tax deduction.

Use Scenario

Client ABC wants to encourage their participants to make self-donations. To do this, they offer an incentive program where all participants who make self-donations are entered into a drawing for prizes. If a participant wins a prize, the cash value of the prize must be credited against their donations and fees in order to communicate the accurate tax-deduction amount. Since this prize incentive program may cause inaccurate tax information,

Client ABC wants to be able to suppress the tax information and receipts for self-donations until all prizes have been awarded. Once the prizes have been awarded, Client ABC will recalculate all tax-deduction amounts and send batch receipts to all participants who made self-donations

NOTE: The suppression of the PDF receipt is hard coded, but the suppression of tax-deduction messages in the thank you emails and the thank you pages can be configured on/off by Convio Services.

 

 

Feature Configuration

1.     After creating a TeamRaiser event, edit it and click "3. Select Event Options".

2.     Under Related Actions, click "Edit Advanced Options".

3.     Under "20. PDF Receipts for Self-Donations" click the checkbox for "Yes, if PDF Receipting is configured, disable PDF receipts for participants who make an extra gift or donation to themselves".

4.     Click "Save".

 

 

Limitations and Out of Scope Features

·         There is currently no functionality included in the product that allows organizations to send the delayed receipts through the Convio system.  If Tax Receipt Suppression is enabled, the organization is responsible for generating the summary receipts.

·         Only site instances that have PDF receipting enabled would include the PDF automatically.
