Overview:

In a recent release, Convio enhanced sustaining giving to allow clients to attempt to process sustaining gifts when the card on file for the transaction has an expiration date in the past.  Clients can also resubmit failed transactions.  Convio also provided clients with the ability to modify the expiration date that could be used in resubmitting failed transactions.

In the Winter 2010 release, Convio will provide clients with two new Report Writer reports that show how the earlier enhancements have benefited organizations that have chosen to use them.  A summary report shows a roll-up of the recurring transactions.  A detailed report shows a row for every transaction.

 

Key Features
Sustaining Gift Detail Report:  This new report provides details on the success or failure of transactions involving recurring donations.  The report includes details about whether the card on file had an expired date and, if so, what alternate date was used.

Sustaining Gift Summary Report: This new report provides a summary of the success or failure of transactions of recurring donations.

Use Scenario
Client Chris from Force For Nature has recently implemented the enhancement that allows his organization to retry failed transactions and to use modified expiration dates.  He thinks that this implementation has resulted in increased donations from constituents who were previously marked as “Failed.”   To know for sure, he is going to run one of the new Report Writer reports.

Chris navigates to Data Management --> Reports --> Report Writer Tab --> Create New Report --> and selects Transactions as the Application. 

Chris can see that there are 2 new reports now available.

• Sustaining Gift Attempt Summary

He chooses the summary report.

He can see that there are fields specific to the constituent and fields specific to sustaining giving and expired cards.  He selects the fields that he wants to include in the report and runs that report.

When Chris gets the results, he can see that the organization has increased the success of their recurring donations.

 

Limitations and Out of Scope Features

None.

 

Client Impacts
Clients who do not want to use this feature can safely ignore it.  Clients interested in using the Failed transaction Retry and Expired Card enhancements should review the Feature Summary Document.

These new reports do not require any special configuration.
