Change a link in an event auto responder

Options

I have created an event but am using my web site as the event landing page, then it goes to the ticket sales in Convio. I have viewed the auto thank you that will be sent after a ticket is purchased and I need to change a link and some of the verbiage, where do I do that?

    Tammy,

    When you are editing the event you can go to step number 8 to edit the autoresponder. Now there is some transaction content that is automatically populated. You cannot change this content without a template customization. Let me know if the stuff you need to edit is in the area you can access.

    Hello Kent,

    Unfortunately it isn't something I can get to. There must be a way. I am confident that I can change the link if I can get to it. I will need to be able to do this in the future as well on different events and the like. Please just let me know how to access this.

    Can you share a screenshot of the part of the message you need to edit?

  • Here are the two places that the link needs to be changed. One is on the ticket page itself, and the other is within the thank you autoresponder.

    Yep. You can't change those. But I do have a way for you to get people back to your non-Event tool page. Simply paste the redirect code below into the html section on your event page in the Event tool and when someone clicks one of those links to the default page it will take them onto your desired location.

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="1;url=http://www.vcrescuemission.org/index.php/en/rags-riches"></HEAD>
    <BODY>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    Let me know if you have any problems with this.

    Would you please give me a clue where I can access the HTML files.... From what I see, the CMS only allows me to edit a little chunk at a time within the code for the site, not sure even where in Convio to find the HTML file to change, but for sure, this code would fix my challenge.

    Can you tell me where to access this?

    Oh no. Not in an HTML file. I mean for you to place the code in the Event Description area on option 7 under step 3, "Configure Additional Information." Like in the screenshot below. You will have to add the code above in HTML editor mode. Not in the WYSIWYG. Once you add the code when someone clicks one of those links that takes them to this event's default page in the Events tool it will load for about a second and then it will redirect to your desired page. It's not the best option but it's the only way I know to work around this without some serious customization that would cost a lot of money.

    Thank you Kent,

    I think this worked. There has to be a cleaner way to do this from my end. This works for this event, but we plan on doing more in the future.

    So, there is not a way to integrate the Convio tools into a "Convio non-Event" outside page (such as my site landing page)? To actually link to the payment portion of my Convio account, then have it link back to an "outside of Convio" url cleanly? That doesn't sound like the Convio way of doing things...

    The only way you can update your system to allow you to manually manage those links is to ask for a template customization. You can contact your AM about this. I'm not sure what the cost of having this done but your AM can find out for you.

    Usually when I mention "customization" or "for a fee" people want the free option. lol  I definitely agree with you though. I've never used the default Events pages.

    Thank you very much for all your help with this Kent,

    I do appreciate the way you found an answer. That is good service, not just telling me that there was nothing I could do.

    Thank you again,

    Tammy

    Trust me... I hate the "nothing you can do" response more than anyone. While some things may be more difficult to accomplish I have seen some amazing stuff done to customize our products. It just takes doing like you did and ask if it can be done.

    I just wanted to thank you also for the two posts about using Events vs. Ecommerce and the autoresponder post. These two have been productive threads that will really help other community members in the future.

    If you ever have a question I hope you won't hesitate to ask in the community again.

    Have a great day and weekend!

    Kent
