A rider can't participate and wants to give their registration to another. What's the easiest way?

Options

One rider can no longer participate and wants to give their registration fee to another rider so they can ride. Is there an easy way of doing this without refunding the registration?

Thanks!

  • I would just make the first participant inactive.

Then register the second from the back end where you manage participants. There is an option to bypass the registration fee when you do that. Or you could have them register normally and give them a 100% discount code.

If you include registration fees in their fundraisng totals (we do) then it gets more complicated. You could register them from the back end and choose to pay for the registration using 'cash' or 'check', so their totals reflect the fee and yet no extra credit card transaction happens. (As far as I know you cannot soft credit registration fees.) This works for us, because we don't sync cash or check transactions to our donor database.

Another option is to enter an unconfirmed offline donation to cover the registration amount, and set the teamraiser to show unconfirmed in the totals. That would probably only work if you don't allow participants to enter offine donations, which use the confirmed/unconfirmed system. (The unconfirmed gift wouldn't sync and mess with your real numbers.)

I really wish we could soft credit registration fees!

  • Thanks Brian, we don't actually count the reg fee but I don't want the back to get all messed up when we run reports!
