Query - latest consent code against a channel

Options

Hi everyone. I hope someone can help me with this query that seems like a really obvious function but….

We use consent codes but whenever we try to get a list of donors who have email opt-in consent we get the whole history for that channel (email in this instance) in the query result. Is there anyway to get just the latest consent response for a channel rather than all the history associated with it? Exporting to an excel spreadsheet and removing the old ones is not really an option (as well as time consuming) as we are using the RE NXT mailing function to manage the mailing and there is no way to re-import into that system a list from an external source so it has to run from a static query.

Thanks

  • Hi @Rijusiddha Drewett
I don't think that is how consents are supposed to be used. Consents provide a history and evidence that the donor has opted in or out of communications. But Solicit Codes should be used to make sure you comply with the donor's latest request.

You can set up consent business rules in configuration (database view - see https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/116096) so when you add a consent it will automatically add or remove the appropriate solicit codes. Then the solicit codes are used to opt in and out of the mailings.

Because the solicit codes will change with each consent they should reflect the latest consent that was added to the record.

  • @Catherine Burns Thanks for this and that does seem to get what we need. The systems designer in me still shaking his head why there are 2 systems in place, I assume a hangover from an older set of processes. You can see the latest consent code on webview panel so if Blackbaud provided a way to provide that in a list and filter we wouldn't need the mapping to solicit codes. Anyway thanks again for pointing that out. ?

Yes, Solicit Codes was how it was done until Consents were added because of GDPR in Europe, so they are really just an audit layer on the solicit codes.
