Pledge Adjustment and Reporting

Options

I have pledges that are not coming up when trying to run a Total Gifts query. The only thing I see is that the pledges have adjustments on them. Interesting enough, NXT shows the correct total giving but not in RE. It appears the adjustments were made to change which fund the gift went too.

What can I do to make these adjusted pledges appear on the total gift query?

Can you share an image of your query criteria as well as an anonymized image of one of the problematic pledge records? That would help us provide feedback. Hope we can help!

  • @Holly Tindall Since you mentioned a Total Gift Query, I'm assuming that you are using a Constituent Query with a Summary field for total gifts. Can you post a screen shot of your Criteria Tab as well as screenshots of what settings you have on the Summary field? It's likely that a setting in one of those two places is the culprit.

The gift was given in 2009 and this adjustment was done in 2011.

adjustment on the pledge doesn't affect summary of gift in constituent query

was the pledge written off? a written off pledge will affect

  • @Holly Tindall What is the criteria (the first tab) on the query?

I think the criteria tab was sent as screenshot already.

@Holly Tindall your criteria is looking for lifetime giving (based on the gift tyep you selected) that is between $80K to $99,999. and you are saying that the constituent in question is showing up in the output with $3700 less in the total giving output? or are you saying the constituent is not showing up at all?

if exactly $3700 less, and this gift you screenshot is not written off, check other pledge to see if there is a total of $3700 written off in all pledges by this constituent.

I think I found the issue but it's strange to me.

The last gift showing for the constitute was in 2019. It appears there was two pledges written off for a total of $12,500, which is the amount difference I was looking for. The write off occurred in 2020 and they do not show up in his giving history in RE. I changed the drop down to see only pledges and installments and that's when I saw the write offs. So RE is correct amount and NXT is wrong? NXT shows his lifetime giving at $91,000 and RE shows $78,500 the difference $12,500.

    @Holly Tindall
the way NXT calculate lifetime giving in the Giving tile of the constituent is very different than database view's Summary of Giving. I'm not surprise it does not match.

What you may need to dig deeper into is how the lifetime giving in NXT calculated, how does it handle soft credit and write off. Then match that to what option you selected for soft credit in the query option. Only thing for sure is, database view's giving summary as you have it will not include write off amount.

  • @Holly Tindall
Jumping off from @Alex Wong's advice, you need to go to your NXT Settings, under Giving Analysis, both Committed Revenue and Recognition, and make sure that this button is checkmarked below. Amounts between NXT and DB view may still configure differently from time to time, but this should help with the current error.

Thank you all for your help. I guess it's just an bug in NXT as that is checked already.

    Have a wonderful day!
