Donors without any actions

Options

So, I'm new in the profession - slowly figuring it out. But as we were going through some records and whatnot; noticed a client that has had some consistent giving to our campaigns, and noticed there was never any of our ‘project thank you’ actions (there are acknowledged letters etc…).

So it got me thinking - could I generate a report of constituents where say the gifts given is more than a given amount for a given period (say over $1000 in 3 years) but there are no ‘project thank you’ actions on file for that period.

Possible?

@Ryan Moore Welcome to the field! This is a wonderful idea. Gift stewardship is terribly overlooked at some organizations, and it's important to document interactions with donors. In regards to how you could run this, you could use a report based on a query. You would build the constituent query with a summary criteria of:

Total Amount of Gift GREATER THAN (or equal to) XXXXX AND Total Number of Actions EQUALS 0

You can add other filters for gift dates and other information, but that simple query should pull the people you're looking for. This query does have the limitations of needing a defined date range, so the logic of over 3 years would need to be defined. You can leave it open ended, and use a date GREATER THAN XX/XX/XXXX or something like that. Good luck.

@Dariel Dixon is right on the mark. You may also benefit from refining the query a bit more using Giving Summaries so you can filter by time period and cumulative giving:

    • Total Amount of Gifts greater than $xx (gift date between xx and xx, gift type one of cash, stock, pay-cash)
    • AND Total Number of Actions equals 0 (action date between xx and xx, action Type equals “project thank you”)

Your team will definitely benefit from having someone like you thinking about these missed donors. Good thoughts!

  • @Dariel Dixon thank you… I keep forgetting about the ‘summary’ type for queries - done it for gift amounts, didn't think to look for actions
