Certificate and non-degree programs - avoiding Alumnus constituency

Options

Question for BBCRM gurus! How is everyone dealing with certificate and/or non-degree program graduates/candidates within BBCRM at your institutions? We are trying to figure out a way to properly codify the data for these programs so that they do not automatically trigger alumnus constituency per system rules (ed hx record from affiliated institution, status graduated), yet we can still maintain the education history to affiliated schools, for engagement/solicitation activities. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

  • @Elie Sirotta we are interested in knowing the same thing. Did you ever get any responses? How have you dealt with this at your institution? Thank you.

  • @Elie Sirotta So, we've never worried ourselves about this. Anybody who enrolls and attends at least one semester basically gets treated as an alumni, though they have no degree and we mark their record “Incomplete” and our configuration makes them an “Alumni”.

That said, if you don't want to treat people who don't COMPLETE a degree program, you can probably write a global change to change “Currently Attending” to “Incomplete” for people who “complete” a certificate program, and adjust your configuration to NOT tag “Incomplete” as an Alumni.

It's not ideal because there'd be no real to identify those who completed a certificate program vs. those who didn't, but it would exclude them from being Alumni.
