Yearlong grades replace fall semester grade

Options

I am wondering if there are any schools out there who replace their fall semester grades with the yearlong grade. For example, a student earns a B+ in Fall semester in English 9, but their final grade for the year is an A-.

We were/are using Crystal Reports for our transcripts, but need to get away from using them and I am trying to figure out if the Blackbaud transcript builder has the ability to replace a fall grade with a yearlong grade (without having to build multiple transcripts). Or if you use a different third party program that would be helpful

  • @Megan Peter - We use the new(-ish) Transcript Builder. Most of our transcripts show year-end grades only. If the recipient needs to see mid-year grades for the current year, we attach the most recent report card.

We have several flavors of transcripts for different situations (current vs former student, official vs unofficial, Upper School vs Middle School, etc.)

College Counseling has a version that shows courses in progress (without any grade - term or year). In the fall, it is sent to colleges that each student is applying to.

(The unofficial transcript is available directly to students and parents. It is stamped as unofficial and does not include a registrar's signature.)

  • @Megan Peter We do this using the old transcript builder. However, it does require manual changes to the transcript and GPA settings. In short, I run transcripts using the semester 1 grade at the midyear, and then change the settings to display the final course grade at the year-end. I also manually update our GPA calculations to calculate on semester 1 grades at the midyear and again with final course grades at the year-end.
