There's technically 2 test modes….a form is in test by default. This default test mode DOES NOT write any records. There's an optional test mode to “create test records” that WILL create records.

It sounds like the default test mode is what you're looking for.

There's no way to see which form a donation originated from in gift batch today. Once you approve gifts, in the NXT gift record, you will see the Donation Form name there (screenshot below.)

Can you tell me a little bit more about what you'd use the donation form name for in gift batch?

The name of the form would help us if we were running multiple “Appeals" for the same fund at once. Hope that makes sense.

Makes sense. Do you have an RENXT Appeal setup that would help you identify this or are you using a more general appeal (or no appeal?)

Will there be any changes to gift processing? And is there a way for us to make a test donation while in test mode?

You have two test modes you can use to make a test donation. By default the form is in test mode. This will allow you to use the preview,link your form into your own website or use the Blackbaud link to test the donor experience. This mode WILL NOT write any constituent or gift records.

The “Create new records” test mode will also allow you to test the entire donor experience, AND will go through the downstream process that results in the gift landing in gift batch. You'll need to track and delete those test gifts from there.

There are no changes to the gift processing for optimized form from what is in standard form today. However, outside of our optimized form project we are working towards several changes. The first is an optional "online donor review tool” that will put donations in a holding area where you can accept the match, choose which record to match the donor to or choose to create a new record, as well as handle profile updates. My colleague will be joining us on Monday's office hours to preview this tool that is currently in development.

The RENXT team is also finalizing their 2024 plan and it looks like some batch enhancements will be included that should also help on the gift processing side.
