Addressee

I am trying to do a mailing for a certain set of constituents nut the mailing has to be “To the Smith Family”. How do I change the way the label is going to print and do I have to go through and change each one manually every time? I don't mind doing it once. I tried changing it but it doesn't save.

@Cindy Merkler If this is a special recurring mailing for these constituents, you may consider adding an additional addressee type to all of the records that you want to mail to. If you have a way to group them you can create a query and globally add the addressee if necessary.

I think the easier way to go would be to try to change the text in the document itself after exporting.

  • @Cindy Merkler How are you doing the mailing? Using an export to an EXCEL file? If so, you can create a formula in EXCEL to create this for you. Pull the LastName into the export and let's say that goes into column B. In the CreatedAddressee Column, 2nd row use ="To the “&”B2"&"Family". This will result in To the LastName Family. Copy this down for all rows and you should be good to go. Or in the document itself you could just have the copy read “To the ” (insert LastName) “Family”. As for how to do this in RE, I would think you could create a new addressee/salutation type and format it as “LastName” Family. You would then have to create an additional addressee/salutation called Family (?) and import it/add by hand onto the desired records for future use.
