Hello to everyone, I was wondering when the donor opts out of receiving emails, does it do it automatcally or do I have to manually do this?

@Adrian Pitts - What email platform are you using? NXT Web View or Online Express (OLX)?

@Adrian Pitts - You can set up a consent business rule to automatically mark constituents that unsubscribe with a specific solicit code - here's a KB article with more information:

  • @Adrian Pitts I hope it works for you - about a year ago, OLX stopped automatically adding solicit codes for us, so now I have to run a weekly query to pick up all the reports that it has added an opt out of email consent instruction to, and manually add/remove our chosen solicit codes. We moved to NXT donation forms recently and I have to do the same thing. It's annoying, given that it used to be an automated process, but I've not got anywhere by asking the support team or our account manager.

I don't recall that OLX ever did this automatically. It only did if Consent was mapped correctly, as Austen mentioned.

There are separate consent settings in webview, and you do need configure them separately from OLX. I would definitely check up on that, because there is no reason you should need to do this manually.

  • @Karen Diener we've been using OLX for a few years now, and haven't touched the settings since we first started using it. It used to add the solicit codes automatically when it added the consent instruction, and then just over a year ago it stopped adding/removing the solicit code. They fixed it for a short while, and then it stopped again. Nothing was changed on our side - all of the settings were the same.

We have configured the consent settings in webview for using NXT donation forms, but again, it adds the consent instruction and puts DNC next to the email, but does not add/remove the relevant solicit codes. I run a weekly query to pick them up and manually edit instead.

  • @Adrian Pitts we were using Mailchimp and now have moved over to RE NXT mail so we can capture the unsubscribes better. So far it does it automatically and we're pleased with it. We were using solicit codes before, so now we have some data clean up for consistency of the designations.
