Stop auto-batching NXT WebView gifts.

Many organizations need the ability to batch their own online donations. Ours receives a high volume of donations and I would never get through them in a timely manner. Having to process and post batches with only 1 gift in it would kill our organizations momentum. We would have 200 batches a day at a minimum. That's insane.

@Leslee Camardo, could you please explain this situation in more detail? We don't use NXT batching (still on OLX), but I am always trying to keep up to date on the pros and cons of each so we can maximize our processes. Why would there be 200 batches with one transaction each?

We process our online donations through NXT, PayPal, Venmo… Our organization recently switched to daily disbursements for online gifts. This allows us to process donations on a more timely manner. You are also able to group Batch Numbers together so you can process more at one time. To do this, we create a new batch and apply the number of gifts and amount we will process at this time. You then move all of your gifts from separate batches to the newly created batch by selecting all, in each batch, and moving to a new batch.

We've discussed this, RE has not proven reliable enough to me in the past to trust that process. We also use the membership module and most of what we do is renewing and connecting memberships to their payments. The process would really slow me down and I would still be left with a very time consuming process. Even the last BB rep I spoke with told me to just stick with OLX for now until WebView NXT forms improve.

@Faith Murray With NXT WebView donation forms, NXT batches them several times throughout the day. And even though some of Blackbaud's online source says there are specific parameters to which the gifts are batched, the last rep I spoke with said that more often than not, I would end up with mostly 1 gift batches. Even though WebView has a friendlier recurring giving option, the batching process would be a nightmare for our organization.

I have added this idea a few times. I would also like to bring up that before the new and improved idea bank came out, thousands of people have been adding this same idea since 2016. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference since it's been 7 years and it's still not resolved.

@Faith Murray - NXT likes to group gifts together by day, by origin - meaning if you have multiple forms live (let's say 3 with gifts every day), then you would have at minimum 3 batches per day. If you also have the Automate Recurring Gift feature managing your RGs, then those are split by payment type (CC and Direct Debit) meaning you now have 5 batches per day. And it goes on and on depending on what's active in the system collecting/processing donations.

@Leslee Camardo I've never known NXT to batch a gift one at a time, but to create batches by date and payment/gift type. For instance, all one-time credit card gifts for one day are in one batch, and recurring gifts are in another, and PayPal/Venmo gifts in another. I thought it was the default.

We commit batches the next day as the batches are constantly being refreshed during the day. Obviously, if you are committing batches during the day, you'll have a bunch of batches as new gifts come in. I didn't even know if you can add memberships in NXT, and thought you had to add them in the batches in DB view after committal.

@Dariel Dixon We use Donation Forms in OLX and those donations connect to our memberships. We don't use the membership forms from OLX. What is the maximum amount of gifts you've seen in a batch? We only accept card payments… not Paypal or Venmo.

Also, in all of the examples I've seen (when we launched NXT and then on BB youtube channel) it shows 1 - 5 gifts per batch as the examples. At the end of the day, the power should be in the customer's hands like it is in OLX to create batches on our own to better fit our needs

@Dariel Dixon webview batches apple pay and (I believe) Visa wallet transactions into their own batch. I have seen single transaction batches when those payment types are used or most often with new recurring gifts
