Appearing on Assignments for Students

Options

I administered a test on Monday to the students using the new assessment builder. I marked all available options for the students for the gradebook; however, I did not mark that the test was published until I allowed it to be published. As a result, my students on Monday said that the assignment was not posted on their Assignments tab. I haven’t had this issue before. The only thing that was marked differently was the publish option.

  • @Matthew Jordan - The Publish status and Assigned date control when students can see the upcoming assessment on the Assignment Center and in the course's Assignments tab.

The assessment's ready/not ready status controls when the student can actually see questions and respond.

The assessment looks like this to the student when the assessment has been published, and the assessment is set to Not ready to take. There is nothing for the student to click on that block on the calendar.

After the teacher changes the assessment to Ready to take, the student sees that the assessment is To Do and has a Take link to click.

If I then reschedule the assessment for a day in the future (but leave the test as Ready to take), the student sees that it is Upcoming, but there is nothing clickable today. (I assume that the Take link will appear at the appointed time on Monday.)

  • @Brian Gray I appreciate the clarification. If memory serves those perameters were set when I created the assessment; however, the students were not able to see it. I checked with my best students who never skip a beat, and they assured me that it was not on their page.

I will try again next time if assign an assessment using the new assessment builder.
