Odd c_src source code being added to links?

Options

I was looking over a report in Google Analytics and noticed that our site had a large number of users coming in through the “Other” traffic category this month. A normal month we see 0-5 of these users, but for 1 particular week this month we had over 1,000. So I checked the landing page that they were going to and it's our general donation page but the url has c_src=CTV added to the end. I did a search through our analytics and there's nothing matching c_src= before January.

Anyone know what this code is for? I'm familiar with s_src and s_subsrc but I've never seen this one. I couldn't find anything on the About pages but if I do a Google search for the parameter I get a bunch of donation forms that are using it in the url. I also tried running a donation report for that particular form and searching for the value CTV but nothing came up.

  • Not I. Possible someone just typo'd s_src?

  • That's what I would have thought but the link also has a s_src on it. It kinda just looks like someone took one of our main donation links and added an extra tracking code to the end. I'll just ignore it for now haha!

  • Copied the link right out of their browser without updating it. This happens to me all the time when copy/pasting links from our copy docs into emails. I always double-check all our links to make sure they are set up correctly. A lot of people don't know what all those extra parameters do, they just know the link works. ?
