Survey Security Category

Options

Hi,

We have a survey that we would only like Administrators to be able to view and take. When we set the security category to “Administrators Only”, the survey URL directs the administrator to the User Login. Logging in as the administrator directs to the admin homepage and there seems to be no way to view it. Any ideas on a configuration that would allow only administrators to view the survey?

  • Most admin records have a corresponding non-admin record, right? You could make the security category a non-admin one, then add those constituents to a group that can access the category.

    Even if there is a workaround for LO's normal functionality of redirecting admins to the backend, it's worth considering whether LO is actually going to be useful for something ops-related. If the data isn't driving an LO front-end customization, or updating an RE record, or needs payment processing, or is tied to some sort of email campaign that should come through LO, then it's usually faster, easier, and more flexible to use something like google forms, surveymonkey, wufoo, or a wordpress form plugin.

  • Thanks for your input!

    It's a custom survey/data sync that automatically creates admins in LOM so we're stuck with that. But just for reference, here's what ended up working best for us:

    • Embed the Survey in an Admin Pagebuilder Page;
    • Survey Security Category = General;
    • All questions have the security category of Administrators Only;
    • That hides everything but the title and submit button so we added a little conditional that sets the survey to hide for anyone not in Admin Group. This way if anyone from the public reaches the URL by chance, they don't see anything.
