Total giving on receipts for 2021

Options

Can someone please tell me how to include the YTD total for 2021 on the letters/receipts as we have not finished December receipts (each day's gifts get a letter and receipt). At the moment, I am running a query to collect the day's giving donors, then an annual report to have the YTD totals to put into the receipts so we are not dead in the water. Too much work when we are short staffed! We do not see an option in Mail Merge Wizard for last year giving total. Thank you!

    @Dana Burton are you running these in NXT? That's forum for the post. I don't do much with receipts in webview but I know it's not an option on database side. Am guessing it's not an option.

    :) As long as you're receipting each gift I wouldn't worry about a total. Totals can be misleading as they may or may not include event registrations/stock/certain gift types etc. It takes some work to be sure any total is pulling exactly what you want.

  • I searched for help under RE, did I post in the wrong place? We primarily use database view for most data entry/receipting. Since we have always included total given, it is mandatory for us to continue. Thank you!

    Do you run the receipts thru mail or export the info and do an outside merge. If you take the data out, you could also export a summary field for total giving.

    You can get the info with annual giving statements, but that's not connected to Mail/receipting function. Would be a separate page. I've seen folks who do that.

  • @JoAnn Strommen - We normally create a separate letter and attach the annual giving statement report to the letter. Would be nice to have it as a mail merge, so I wouldn't have to do two steps for annual year end statements. Luckily I don't have many to do.

  • We run it through Mail and Mail Merge Wizard atm. We also have a large number of constituents who request annual tax statements, some receiving receipts throughout the year, some not.

  • I ended up making queries for the information I needed pulled and through a bit of a process, created the tax documents in Word merge wizard to look similar to what we had done pre-RE. A bit of a process but they look nice and everyone is happy. Especially that we are finally finished!
