Tribute/Acknowledgement Letter for Recurring Gifts

I am fairly new to RE NXT. I am trying to figure out a way to stop populating acknowledgement letters for Recurring gifts and the resulting Tribute it creates (if the gift was created as a tribute)? does anyone know how to do this? We send a thank you letter to the donor and a Tribute letter to the Honoree when the gift is created. I want to stop populating this letters after the first instance.

  • Hi Olajumoke! I believe that you need to make the change on the original Recurring Gift. Then when the payment is processed it will only show the defaults that is on that gift.

  • Thank you so much for your reply Angela. I've tried that and it still doesn't work. I marked the original recurring gift as acknowledged and the Tribute too. but when I run mail, Tribute letters still get populated. my stop gap measure is to manually set as acknowledged when populating the gift batch but it will be good to have a way to set this automatically.

    I think Angela's suggestion should work. When you tested were the gifts already in a batch and the acknowledgement field entered as ‘not acknowledged'? The change to the master gift record will only apply to gifts created after the change was made and saved. Just a thought on why it may not have worked for you.

    It sounds like you have the tribute module and things might be a bit different there as well.

    We recently revised our policy and are marking all web gifts (which is how most of our recurring gifts come in) under a certain amount as acknowledged because the donors get a Thank You email from us. So I no longer have issues with the recurring gifts itself. I suppose, I can also manually mark the Tributes attached to the recurring gift as acknowledged in the Batch to avoid it pulling through when I run mail. I just thought that changing the Master gift record (as well as making changes to the Tribute tab) will automatically fix the issue for subsequent gift. but I found that It didn't.
