Donation Form - Feedback and Examples

Options

Hello - One of our donor partners shared that they've received several comments that our donation pages are not user friendly, cumbersome, and clunky (especially as it pertains to making honor/memorial contributions). Our marketing department that creates these pages has said the layout of our pages is constricted by Blackbaud perimeters. I would love it if some of you are willing to share your website so I could take a look at the layout of your donation page, especially if the page allows for tributes, so I can share some examples of donation pages by others that interface with Blackbaud products.

Thank you!

    Hi Dianne,

You should share one of your donation pages so we can see your current design. But here are a few that I really like that have tributes:

  • As suggested, here are the links to our currently donation pages. Feedback is appreciated:

  • Thank you so much Erik. I've posted the links to two our our pages above.

Diane, I don't see any functional limitations on the information you are requesting from your donors.

I think there are some changes that could be made that would increase your conversion rates and improve the donor experience.

We have a free Secure Checkout Kit available in the community that you could leverage for an improved donation experience. Additionally, Blackbaud's professional services or a Partner could help if your team doesn't have the html & css skills needed.

  • I appreciate this information Erik. Thank you very much!

Hi Dianne. Erik provided some great examples but I wanted to chime in here too. Here are a few suggestions for simplifying your forms that don't require any code updates:

    • For the form with designations, add a Section Header above that section to introduce it to the user. Something like “Designate your Gift” or similar language.
    • I also prefer to use a combination of “Standard Donation Level” with “Single Gift Designation” Giving Patterns as opposed to the one you're using, which is “Flexible Designated Giving Donation Level”. Here's an example of a form that uses the combination
    • For both forms, I would recommend removing the Duration selection options. Unless your audience is different, I think it's safe to assume most sustainers want to donate monthly, forever. I've said in the past that asking a donor when they want their gift to end is like asking a bride when she wants the marriage to end!
    • Any fields you can remove from your form are going to improve the completion rate. As such, unless you have a really important business reason for including them, I would suggest omitting: Donor Title, Honoree Title, Notification Recipient Title, anonymous checkbox

    Hope that is helpful!

  • This is GREAT feedback Lacey! Much appreciated. And thanks for providing the form example.

  • Hi Dianne,

I wanted to check in and see if you needed any assistance in updating your donation forms.

Looks like a few styling edits could make a huge difference to your forms and it wouldn't be a heavy lift. Feel free to send me your availability for a call to mark@cathexispartners.com or learn more about our BB services here:
