Facebook Graph API Update?

Options
Has anyone recently been required to update the Graph API in a Facebook fundraiser app integration for TeamRaiser? I've received a notice from Facebook that we need to do this within the next few weeks to avoid potential problems. Our app is currently using Graph API v3.2. The latest release is v.10!

Because we have two TeamRaiser events going with active fundraising on Facebook, I'm particularly nervous about installing the upgrade. I am wondering if anyone has done this recently and, if so, whether there were any problems. On a related note, is it better to upgrade just several versions at a time? Or is there nothing to worry about in jumping up 8 versions in one go?

    Hello Michael -

The Graph API version is handled by the Facebook-TeamRaiser integration behind the scenes. There is no action needed on your part.

    Thanks,

  • Thanks, Colleen. When you say it is handled behind the scenes, you mean there's nothing that I need to do on the TeamRaiser/Luminate side of the integration. However, I do still need to upgrade the Graph API version used by my app on Facebook Developer, right? Only I have access to that.

    Hi Michael -

Our development team says you do not need to take action because the code is handling the upgrade completely.

This update should be complete by now, so I would assume you no longer will see the messages about a required update. Please let me know if you are still seeing the alert to upgrade.

    Thanks!

  • Good morning, Colleen. I'm not sure whether we are in the clear. I had received another notice about the upgrade on April 19, but no more since. However, Facebook's App Upgrade Tool is still showing that our app needs updating (see screenshot).

    Hi Michael -

Our developers dug into the code this morning and confirmed that v10 is what is being used, so we are on the latest version, and no action is required by you.

I went into our Facebook for Developers site and looked at our apps, and we see a similar screen for some apps as shown in your screenshot. Even though our apps also now use v10, they still show the old alert and apparent action item. However, the alert can be ignored.

All apps using the Facebook-TeamRaiser integration are using v10 now!

    Thanks,

    Colleen
  • Thanks for following up on this. I'm happy to hear that we are all set and can safely ignore this alert.
