BBNC Email vs. NXT Email

Options
Hello everyone - can you share pros and cons of using BBNC vs the NXT Marketing Email functionality? We used to use Online Express until we got Net Community and our entire team is using BBNC. A new team member is talking about NXT Email Marketing and Social Marketing, but no one else is familiar with those items, we have no templates there, and have not used them before. I would like thoughts on why you would use it if everything is already set up in BBNC. Thanks.

Hi Kristy Henry‍, you will have much greater functionality in BBNC than in NXT, but depending on your needs the transition may be worth it as NXT Email is usually included with your contract and BBNC is additional.

We had BBNC several years ago and when we moved to NXT we transitioned over to using MyEmma because we had HTML templates set up in BBNC that we could not replicate in NXT Email.

Really, it comes down to the complexity of your templates and if you are able to "re-build" them in NXT or not.
  • Hi Kristy,

We use both BBNC and RENXT for emails. Typically this is what we've found:

BBNC has a great flexibility in terms of data management and design. All portions of the email can be edited in BBNC (as long as you've got some HTML folks on your team). You can also use imported lists which allows you to incorporate variable messaging if you want (using data that is not on the donor/constituent record). If you use BBNC and queries to send out your emails, this information will also be stored on the NetCommunity tab in database view on the constituent record, allowing you to query on NetCommunity engagement.

The RENXT email tool is much simpler in terms of design but you can't access the html code to alter design significantly. The email information is also stored directly on the constituent record in the email tile, BUT this is not information you can edit, or query on. It's just a quick look at whether they received or opened or clicked on the email. Once thing we don't love is that the footer on the emails is not editable - so this information that appears in the footer is based on the RENXT account information.

Typically we are using RENXT email for those quick emails or stewardship emails where we don't expect a response, or we don't use a lot of personalized information or complex formatting.

We are still kind of classified as "newbie" users so we are still learning about both tools - and I know they continue to rollout enhancements that may address some of the issues we have run into.
