Bad Data coming into Raiser's Edge

Options
Is anyone else having issues of data coming into Raiser's Edge like first name is getting changed to both of our alum's names for that is the way they typed it into the form.   Even if the correction is made in Batch it still imports wrong

Are you referring to an alum data update form or gift donation form?

If gift donor data, I frequently encounter online gift entry where donor has typed in more than one first name. Incoming data update has to be rejected when 'checking out' the gift record and then again uncheck to reject those updates when processing records into a batch.  I have not experienced data coming into the batch incorrectly if I've not accepted their updates/double name.

If the RE batch is correct, I don't know how it could import to records incorrectly.

LOL I admit I have entered my and spouse's name in name field when making an online donation. Shame on me!
  • I experience this on a regular basis. Regardless of whether I make corrections to a name, address or email and "reject" when checking out, the data imports into RE exactly how the donor originally typed it when filling out the donation form. It is extremely frustrating, particularly when the correct involves the use of all CAPS. I am very careful to "reject" and uncheck the boxes to avoid the errors, yet still need to double-check the donor record after the import to fix the errors I "rejected". A new error last week, under review with Support, is the state attempting to download in long form vs the abbreviation, creating an error message that the field is too long for import.

Hi Julie Matuszak‍ and Jocelyn Ferland‍ - There is an additional step that you need to do prior to downloading gifts from OLX into Batch -
    1. After selecting gifts to download and clicking on Bulk Processing.
    2. Go to the second tab (Options).
    3. At the bottom of the window under Transaction Profile Data, choose Reject Profile Information.
    4. Then go back to the first tab (Processing), and click the Process Now button.
By completing step 2-3 you will ensure that changes 'rejected' during the review process in OLX (prior to download) remain as you selected them.  This will solve the issues you are experiencing.
  • Thank you Austen for the information. I could not seem to find a solution previously, appreciate your attention to this post.

  • Thank you soooo much

We just started having this issue but we are not bulk processing, would we still follow these steps to correct the problem?

@Jacqueline Stevens - If you are encountering your ‘rejected’ information coming through when processing gifts from OLX one-at-a-time, I recommend contacting support. To my knowledge, the options listed out below only appear when electing to Bulk Process.
