Where is the Pay Method look up table

Options
Okay, DB View gift entry question. The pay method is driven by a look up table; but I can't find where it hides.

I wanted to add EFT to the lookup table for gifts we receive by direct deposit from United Way/Your Cause/etc.instead of recording them as "Other".

Help?!?!?

  • Maybe I can lobby them to change it some day. In the meantime, I guess I'm stuck with "Other".?

    Thanks!
  • I find this Very ? Disappointing. It's been updated to include PayPal and Venmo; but not something as basic as "EFT" for funds received by direct deposit from Charitable sources like United Way or Your Cause.

? There is a direct debit option.  Perhaps you could use that along with a gift code and the lack of check mark in the EFT box for actual direct debits.

I can see where a method of "EFT" could get confusing as that is used to define credit card and direct debit gifts also.
  • yes it is a disappointment we have all lived with for a long time -- BB has not caught up on modern times with this field.  It's like the gender field.  That needed to be a table that could allow additions and they did not get around to that one until just a couple years ago.
  • The Direct Debit is the method the money is paid.  It is direct debited from the donor/organization's bank to yours.  I've added - to the orgs who send us money this way - a Banking Relationship, such as Mighty Cause or Benevity, etc, whatever org is sending the money.  It is able to be chosen in the individual gift record but doesn't need to be if you get funds in check form.  I don't check the EFT box because that can have an effect on monthly EFT gifts I want to process via BBMS.  The EFT button is a functionality for charging credit cards in Merchant Services, not a descriptor field. (It may work differently if you don't use BBMS.)

  • Hi Kenneth,

I don't know if this will help, but we use the Gift subtype field to track that type of information.

    Best,

  • I use the Gift Subtype field and also the Pay Method fields especially when a check (personal or business) is involved to list what bank it is from.  I don't use the routing field for security purposes.  And I use the Solicitor field so I know who to go to with questions.  Saves time going directly to the right person rather than wasting my time and theirs going through several people unnecessarily.
