Segmentation Exports

Options
Hi,

I'm tasked with setting up segmentation for my organization and I'm being asked if we can use the mail module in RE to include the segmentation name in the query export after the mail job has finished.  I was able to find the the Segment Appeal and Segment Package in the Miscellaneous Fields under tab 2 of the Quick Letters mailing, but not one for the actual segment the donor fell into.  For reference, the segmentation name would be the name of the query the donor is falling into at run time.

Thank you in advance!

    Hi Jeff,

    Some very brief steps:

Set up the Appeal Record and Packages on the record.  Package = segment

in QuickLetters, click on the Segment tab.  Check the box to say you want to segment the mail run.  Then you'll need to fill in the grid below
    • First column - would pick the segmentation query
    • Second column is the Appeal
    • Third column is the package
    • Final column is where you name an output query
On the General tab of Quickletters, select an input query if you need it.  You might not.  I've used it when I have a very large database or have exclusion criteria that cannot be processed using the filters in QuickLetters.  The QuickLetters process will consider all of the constituents in the database (or in your input query on the General tab), and then place them into a segment if they meet the criteria of that query.  The output file will include the appeal and package if you selected it on "Fields to Include" tab.

I hope that makes sense.  It is a pretty brief explanation.  I have a lot of experience with this, but not a lot of time to right now to write a response!  It's a great feature that not a lot of people understand, and it can be a really big timesaver.

    Karen
