What would you like to learn?

Hey Luminate Community,

If you haven’t met me yet, I’m Allison King, the Luminate Curriculum Lead for Blackbaud University. What is a curriculum lead? I oversee the information included in the Luminate courses for Blackbaud University.

With the new year less than four months away (wait, what????), I’m working on building out the Luminate 2021 plan. So, I was wondering, what would you like to learn more about in 2021? What courses could we build that would help you be more effective in using Luminate Online? We can’t promise to cover every topic, but we’d love to include your ideas for future course topics.

If you aren’t sure what topics we already cover, check out our current Luminate datasheet.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas!

Thanks!

  • Hi Allison,

I would find a class on RELO very beneficial. We use LO and RELO and TeamRaiser. I find I have questions like this - If someone joined a TeamRaiser last year with their work email and this year joins with their personal email, what we do and in what order we do it when we are bringing that registration through RELO into RE can make the difference between whether or not they can log into their TeamRaiser account for this year and it can also break the link to a Facebook Fundraiser if they have one set up.

If you have any insight into how we can navigate RELO, it would be much appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Angel Rogalski

    Hi Angel,

We have an eLearning course all about the basics of RE integration with a variety of our products including Luminate Online. Unfortunately, as integrations tend to be specific to each customer, it would be really hard to have a more detailed course on this topic. These sorts of questions are great for your CSM team or to ask in the RELO community.

  • Would love to see more courses on some of the more "nuts & bolts" aspects of Luminate Online including newsletter creation (WYSIWYG & HTML), stationery, as well as sessions that equip us to better understand, create, edit, and manage page wrappers and reusables.

    Hey Kadesha Washington,

We cover the Content (WYSIWYG) Editor in Luminate Online: Fundamentals - Email. We also have the eLearning course: Luminate Online: Basics of Content Editor and Libraries. We cover email stationery in Luminate Online: Optimizing Your Email Performance.

While teaching HTML is outside of the scope of Blackbaud University, this blog post is a great place to get started.

Lastly, have you checked out our brand new Luminate Online: Page Wrappers course? It's all about how to build Page Wrappers and reusables.

I've already viewed/taken the fundamentals & basics courses. But the Page Wrappers course is new to me so I will DEFINITELY check that out. Thanks for sharing!
  • Hi there,

I'm currently searching for how to automate emails to true first-time donor groups created with queries. While Blackbaud support tells us we can isolate first-time donors with a query, we actually can't because LO creates brand new records for donors using an email address Cons360 doesn't recognize. We provided a few examples of this happening, to which they said if we're not cleaning up duplicates daily, there's no real way for LO to determine who's a first-time donor.

So, if an organization is not merging duplicates on a daily basis, is there a real way to isolate first-time donors for automated email messaging? Does Blackbaud have recommendations on second gift conversion strategy? Would love to learn more about that!

    Thanks!
