Where do letter templates live???

Options
Hey Community,

Our team is working on a review of the letters we generate in RE/DBview. Obviously, LOL, there are updates needed.

Where can I find the letter templates used by the WordMerge without having to have an unacknowledged gift to merge? I know the database/system keeps them somewhere with a BBnnn name; but I'm clueless on how to find them. Until now, I've been fixing them as I have need to generate a specific letter; but this update project include letters used less frequently.

  • Config!

But also, if you use them in Mail>Donor Acknowledgement Letters for a conditional mail merge, you need to fix them in there too (with the unacknowledged gift to merge).
  • Hi Ken

The letters should be under Config>
Letters.  There are other places letters can be created but
they are for a one off use.   If you don’t see the
letters in Config maybe check the Export tab.  Hope this
    helps.

  • Thank you for the replies. We're doing simple merge parameter files for each type of letter, driven by the campaign/fund/appeal of the gift.

I was just hoping I could edit the letters without going through the parameter file/merge wizard to access the stored BBnnn letter template.

  • Keri, it's looking like I'll have to go the test gift route also; tweaking for each letter/parameter file I have to update. :( It's ONLY 14 letters. LOL!

  • Extremely confusing.  There?s that
dreaded Mail module and as far as I know you can only get to the
source document through the wizard.  Hopefully others may have
a work around.  I know of only 3 places you can set up a
letter: Mail module wizard, Config Letters and the Constituent
Record Word document.   I?m moving the letters to NXT in
hopes it will be a better experience.  I?ll keep you
    posted.

    Best,

    Wendy
