Industry field

Hello folks


I want to ask if you use Industry field in Raiser's Edge. This field locates at Org2 tab in RE database view. This field doesn't display in NXT webview. If you do use this field. How many codes do you have in your RE? I am looking for better practice.


Can you provide some examples?

Don't forget that this field is also used on the organizational relationship field for individual constituents.  When you are populating this table, I think that I would look to at the other fields in that org2 tab as well as the organization relationship record.  I usually use this field to be quite broad, and not very specific, using terms like Education, or Healthcare, or Government.  I think the other fields allow the ability to be fine tuned.


I would also think about how I would use this field for filtering.  Having that field being broad allows you to group more relationships or organizations together.

We did at my previous org.  Don't see it filled on too many records where I'm at now.  Though the table has a lengthy list. I've exported the list and attached for what it's worth.  We are an engineering school so I see some specifics that would have been all lumped together at my previous employer.
