Annual Events - Individual Pages

Options
Hello!

Does anyone have a workaround for how an individual can use their fundraising page year after year for the same event without having to create an entirely new page?

It's incredibly disappointing that Blackbaud support simply told me "The best option is to increase the fundraising goal, participant's cannot "start over" each year."

Anyone know any workarounds?

Thank you,

Katie Tracy

    Hey there, Katie Tracy

Is this for a TeamRaiser event? If so, it is best that you set up a new TeamRaiser event each fiscal or calendar year to allow for users to return the next year and host another fundraiser. Unfortunately, the same person cannot register for the same event more than once, so this is the way that you would do it is close registrations and leave the event open for donations for another couple of months and then open registration and update links to a new TeamRaiser event each year. Also, if someone wants to come back the same year and fundraise more but with a different focus (e.g. the first was a birthday focus and the second is a climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro), then you can copy your existing TeamRaiser event and supply the link to the person who wants to host a second fundraising event the same year.

Unfortunately, only teams can return and inherit the same page content (if allowed under the event's configuration) for their team page when you attach a previous event to the current event on step 1 and then when editing step 3 > Related Actions in left sidebar > Edit Advanced Options > Returning Team Options.

For individuals however, returning and having the same page content isn't possible, but what you can do is put information on your site that asks participants to reach out to you on an FAQs page, for instance, so that you can copy the page from the previous year's event to the current one by managing the previous event, finding that participant's page and editing it and then copying the content from the participant's page and go to the current year's event and paste it into the page for the individual that is requesting their page content from the year before. That would be the way that I might handle it. I know it is a manual way of doing it, but it is the closest way of doing it without it being a part of the platform.

If you're looking for some of our Do-It-Yourself TeamRaiser Pagewrapper examples, here are some that we have done in-house through a Blackbaud Services engagement:

Finally, if you would like for this to be a possible feature for TeamRaiser, you could add it to the Luminate Online Idea Bank at https://luminateonline.ideas.aha.io/ and ask that others join you in voting for the idea. Many of the ideas that get the most votes often get incorporated into future releases of Luminate Online.

Thanks again for posting the question. I hope my reply helps.

Update:  I just learned from a colleague that individual fundraiser pages with TeamRaiser, as long as you attach a previous event to the current one, on step 1, do return with the same content on the page that the participant had in the previous event.  So, I believe this is just a matter of attaching the previous event to the current event.

Please give that a go, Katie Tracy and it should work for you. Thanks, Will
  • Will, sorry, I misunderstood you at first. So, I'm not making a new TeamRaiser event. The TR we have set up on our site is evergreen, people just make fundraising pages within it. https://secure2.convio.net/slchf/site/TR?fr_id=1121&pg=entry Some people choose to use their pages to fundraise for an event. http://support.stlouischildrens.org/goto/11thAnnualLemonadeStand I don't want them to have to make new email addresses every year just to make new pages. That seems dumb to me. I want these people to be able to use this same page for their 12th Annual Lemonade Stand. Any ideas on how to make that happen?
