Do You Have Participant Prizes/Incentives on Your Events?

Options
We are pivoting our annual in-person run/walk into a virtual event, and are brainstorming different ways we can encourage our participants to be more active in their fundraising efforts. If you utilize a system of participant prizes/incentives, please share:
  • How this works within your event
  • What your incentive levels & prizes are
  • If you have seen in a change fundraising participation
Thank you!

  • Hi Austen Brown‍!

We have also moved our run/walk event into a virtual event. We have only recently considered using prizes/incentives to encourage fundraising efforts. We're having planning discussions now. (So I don't have any results to share).

I could see us offering prizes for people that reach certain dollar amounts. Or to the top overall fundraiser. Or maybe if a person hits a certain dollar amount they're entered into a raffle for a prize (this way people know/feel that they have a chance of participating).

We offer virtual behind the scenes tours (virtual now due to COVID). We might include a tour for a person or group as a prize. We could include a piece of animal art or some other gift shop type item. We have a sea turtle hospital on-site and, in specific occasions, we are able to have members of the public join us when we release a sea turtle back into the wild. So we might offer joining us for a release as a prize. These are all rough ideas. There could be issues with them.

I really like your post. I hope more people share ideas. I think you're on to something.

    Chris
  • Because we work with many sub-entities we have training events for our annual appeal.  By having a raffle in this year's training we saw an increase in interest in getting involved.  We've also surpassed our goal by quite a bit.
