Consolidating multiple org branches into what record

Hi there,


Generally new to RE! I have been tasked with consolidating multiple company branches under one primary record. The only issue I see arising with this what would be best practice to reference each company to their particular company, since a few of the companies are actively giving. Also, how would gift acknowledgement be handled? Would it have to be a manual process, with each gift being designated to a specific address and individual?

    You'd be looking at manually ensuring the correct branch/contact gets acknowledgement/receipts. Branches and how to manage has been an issue for a long time.


    Another option: As you said you're new to RE, have you considered using Parent Company and subsidiary (Org 2 tab)?  We leave branch with their own record and SC gifts to HQ so all gifts show on that one record from all branches. We chose this also as different branches are different prospects assigned to different solicitors.

    I appreciate the insight into the issue. I think the second option would be a great fit in a more typical situation, but this particular consolidation is more to clean up a few lay about records. So, merging them and deleting the leftovers is the goal
