Help displaying GL for split gifts

Options
I don't know why I didn't post this sooner.

I'm working on a pretty straightforward Crystal Report for a client, but am having trouble because they split gifts and want the GL (credit number only) in the report.  Output is simple:

Name, Date, Fund, Appeal, GL

So if the full gift is $10,000 but it is split 50/50 between Annual Fund and Endowment, it should read:

Donor Name     Gift Date     $5000     Annual Fund     Personal Solicitation     1111-11111-11

Donor Name     Gift Date     $5000     Endowment      Personal Solicitation     2222-22222-22

Has anyone made this work in the past?  I started by trying to create a unique ID and grouping on that, but it isn't working.  It displays everything correctly except for the Fund - it uses the same Fund for each row.

Thank you!

  • Hi Karen Diener‍

Did you ever get this to work for you in crystal report? I am having a similar issue and was wondering if you ever resolved it. I was able to display the split gift amounts by using the "Fund Gift Amount" in the export instead of the "Gift Amount" but having issues with other unique fields displaying. For example, the gift gets split into 2 rows correctly (1 row for each Fund & Corresponding amount) but it leaves gaps in the second row where I would expect to see the same Gift Attribute as in Row 1.

For example, we have a single gift of $100 that is split in two (50/50). I would expect to see something like this:

Donor Name, Gift Date, $50, Fund X, Gift Attribute Z

Donor Name, Gift Date, $50, Fund Y, Gift Attribute Z

    But instead I see this:

Donor Name, Gift Date, $50, Fund X, Gift Attribute Z

Donor Name, Gift Date, $50, Fund Y, BLANK

Any thoughts on exporting a single attribute to both rows for split gifts?

    Hi Megan,

I never was able to get it to work.  Because the report I was working on was so important, and the number of split gifts they had was relatively small, the solution ended up being to stop splitting gifts.  I've heard that there is a way to do it in Crystal, but I was never able to figure it out.

    Good luck to you though!!
