Recovering Deleted Constituents?

Options
Hi Folks!

I work in a school environment and I'm responsible for entering all of the new families into our RE7/NXT database. As I was putting a new family in, I didn't check to see if the mom was already entered into our system as an alumna (rookie mistake) and entered mom into the daughter's relationship normally as a parent. I wasn't prompted by the system to say there was a duplicate record being created. When I noticed my mistake, I went to add mom's alumna record to the same daughter's relationship tab, and remove the parent record. I accidentally clicked on the Alumna record, deleted the record without double checking (another mistake) and it was too late for me to cancel the deletion.

Is there a way that I can recover this constituent profile after it's been deleted? Can I load a version from the last time the database was backed up? I'm worried there might have been some Gift and Receipt information that will be lost forever.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • Since you are on NXT, I'm assuming you are hosted by BB.  Blackbaud should have a backup of your database.
  • Hi Alex,

Hopefully the database backup is available like Madeleine mentions.  If not, perhaps you could reconstruct gift data from the Batch Commit Control Report if it was saved after generation during the batch commit process.  Also, there is a Batch Validation Report that is available even after the batch is committed.  Hopefully you can recover the full data soon!

    Best Wishes,

    2.  From now on -- rookie -- if you find that you have entered a new record and that there was already a record there (and you were or were not prompted). I suggest merging the two records that are dupes, keeping the oldest record deleting the newer one upon merging the two.
